Doubtless you've heard much about Thailand's legendary nightlife. It is a topic which has generated a huge amount of media attention in both the Press and on Television. Perhaps this article will help expel a few myths and hopefully allow you to enjoy Pattaya's offerings as you please.

It's up to the individual, you can indulge as much or as little as you desire, or you can be as conservative or as daring as you choose!

So, what are the opportunities and where? - almost limitless and almost everywhere - it's up to you!

The most numerous and most popular haunts are the Beer Bars, while the more expensive (and more exciting, but safest) are the A-Go-Go's Bars & Clubs (both male, female and in-between). The most active areas in Pattaya are Pattayaland (1), (2)Pattaya Funland & (3). That is just outside the Club Penthouse. Remember, freelance operators for whom no Bar off is required are defiantly not recommended for the uninitiated (and the initiated!), as this more than often leads to troubles beyond belief, although one can sometimes find a more permanent companion in Restaurants.

Bar offs (house charges) are in lieu of your companion's salary and vary between 150Bt for Beer Bars (up to 600Bt for Clubs and AGo-Go's, (a small price to pay for the additional security & piece of mind). Remember that he or she will also expect payment for additional services if applicable)! Do discuss expectations in advance. It may be beneficial to involve the Mamasan (the Bar's Floor Manager) at this stage. It is best to settle daily and be wary of people that say no payment is required! Note that some hotels do impose a guest surcharge and may be willing to register them for your added security.

The Gay scene is centered largely in Soi Pattayaland (1 & 3). Pattayaland 2 Pattaya- Funland  being predominately Ladies.

There are also many highly recommended Cabaret / Transsexual Shows that will be appreciated by all. While on this point, not all of the "girls" are what they seem! Make sure you date your preference!

There are also numerous Fast Food Takeaway & Gourmet Restaurants; Karaoke's, Discos and Massage Parlors ad-infinitum (in fact Club Penthouse  has a visiting traditional Thai massage service should you so wish). You can also choose to take-in a movie, watch Thai Boxing or enjoy live-music.

Without doubt it is recommended that safe sex be practiced. Let us say at this stage, that the HIV / AIDS issue has in our humble opinion been wildly exaggerated and should not be allowed to cloud one's enjoyment of Pattaya.
