Regular visitors to the Penthouse Hotel/Kitten Club would have found it hard not to notice the changes that have been taking place during the past few months as 'Cats/Hot Cats' has been replaced by 'Kittens'. After 10 years of 'Cats/Hot Cats' it was time for 'Kittens' to take over and with 110 of the best hostesses in town, plus the new look, we feel that this is the place to relax and have fun. If you are on a well earned vacation and need to escape to a place to forget about the stresses and pressures of life back home or if you are an ex -pat that also needs an escape for a few hours then look no further than 'Kittens'. Kittens is a 'Party Club' in fact the same thing can be said about the Penthouse Hotel. This is a place to 'Party' and our 'Specialty Parties' include 'Birthdays', 'Stag Nights', 'Engagements' 'Weddings' and quite a popular one 'Divorces' & 'Divorces' (Marry Today - Divorce Tomorrow).

Penthouse residents staying one week or more during their birthday qualify for a free bottle of Champagne & personalized cake, served at midnight with a 'Night Club Off'(Only one per person per year & must be booked on arrival).

Kitten Club 'Pool Tourney' Party
Friday June 20th & Dave, a regular Penthouse Guest for many years, decided to celebrate his recent divorce with a 'Pool Tourney' in the Kitten Club. Dave & five of his mates booked the pool table for 2 hours for this event. With the 6 guys & 6 Kittens a good time was had by all. Winner of the singles was one of the girls, Rung. Winners of the mixed doubles Oy & Gavin. Voted the worst dressed player and, incidentally the worst player on the table was John. John had spent the entire afternoon in the Kitten Club and by the tournament started he had a job to stand let alone pot a ball. After the awards ceremony the Champagne flowed. John found a second wind & was last seen performing something that looked might have been a dance on one of the dance stages, clinging to two poles and ably supported by Kittens Nid & Noi. Dave enjoyed his divorce celebration and the good thing about it is he doesn't have to get married & divorced again. He can enjoy a party in the Kitten Club any time of the year.

Currently setting the pace with the most votes to date us Kwan closely followed by Da & Net. Don't forget to cast your vote for your Favourite Kitten. The winner will be announced in December and will receive a cash prices along with the two runners up. All voters will also have a chance to win prices that will include a 'Free Jacuzzi' room for one night. The voters lucky draw will take place during the Kitten of the Year awards. Pattaya Weather Update
Pattaya has 3 seasons. Hot &
Hot, Hot & Humid & Hot & Wet. The Hot & Wet season is just around the corner. If
you have not experienced Pattaya when it is Hot & Wet it is worth a try. As this
is also traditionally low season .you will be able to find many bargains!!!. You
will find the weather unlike many other countries where it rains all day. There
are usually 3 downpours that you can set your watch by, 6.00 AM, 12.00 PM and
6.00 PM. During the rain breaks you can do all the usual things, go to the
beach, visit local landmarks, shopping or just visit Kitten Nite Club and relax.
Open 2.00 PM to 2.00 AM.

about the Hotel, Kittens Club and Pattaya as you probably already know.
The Penthouse hotel continues to be upgraded. Another specialty room has just
been completed. This room includes all the 'Special Penthouse Features' such as
Jacuzzi, Dance Stage, and Massage Swing but, with the addition of a 'Whirlpool
& Hammock Spa along with a 'Shower Show Podium'. Look out for the next news
letter when we do a walk through this room and explain in full detail.
The 'Roof Garden' has just been opened, more to come and the much talked about indoor swimming pool and exercise spa will be completed in the next couple of months.

Christmas/New Year 2003
At this ‘Special Time’ of year the Penthouse Hotel is always very busy. To avoid disappointment we recommend that you confirm your booking as soon as possible.
Please remember that we have a
season adjustment that runs from 20th December until 3rd
January (15% per night added to the normal room tariff). As usual we will be
having the two parties. Champagne Christmas Dinner, the best in town & New Year
Dinner Party which included drinks up until midnight. The cost of each party is
only 1,500 Baht (US$ 35) and great value.To confirm all you need to do is send
an e-mail and the required deposit.
Guest Joke of the Month
A professor of mathematics sent a fax to his wife. It read "Dear Wife: you must realize that you are 42 years old and, I have certain needs which you are no longer able to satisfy. I am otherwise happy with you as a wife, and I sincerely hope you will not be hurt or offended to learn that, by the time you receive this letter, I will be at the Penthouse Hotel with my 18 year old teaching assistant. I'll be home before midnight."
When he arrived home there was a faxed letter waiting for him that read as follows: "Dear Husband: You, too, are 42 years old, and by the time you read this letter, I will be at the Hilton Hotel with the 18 year old pool boy. Being the brilliant mathematician that you are, you can easily appreciate the fact that 18 goes into 42 a lot more times than 42 goes into 18. Don't wait up."

Hello to all my friends at the Penthouse and Cats (Now named Kittens of course but I have so many fond memories of Cats that I can't get used to the new name yet - give me time. This is Barry here from Croydon.In the past I have spent many happy times at the Penthouse but, as I have not be able to get back for more than 3 years I don't suppose anyone remembers me! I'm the small guy that developed a liking for Mekong?. Why have I not been back for three years I hear you ask. Well, as you may remember, I fell in love with my very own Kitten and we got married. Dudley, you were at the wedding. You must remember at the reception when they surprised me by telling me that I had to sing a song. My only song then and still is John Lennon's 'Yesterday all my Troubles were so far away'. Not really the best choice for a wedding night but I managed to get through it ably back up by a couple of other Pattaya regulars, William & Trevor. This was eight years ago. I stayed on in Thailand for a while and my wife and I had our first child, a daughter. Then it was time to get back to the UK to get down to the serious business of working. Since my last visit we have had our second child. This time a son and we are all really living happily together. As all the good romance novels normally finish up ' They Live Happily Ever After'. Touch wood this is how it is going to be for me. It is not always easy but the good times we have are really very very good. Thank you for keeping me on the mailing list. It is always good for me to read about what is happening in my 'Second Home'. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Barry - Of course we all remember you, your beautiful wife & gorgeous daughter. How could we forget the wedding and your much talked about rendition of John Lennon's Yesterday - it was superb. We have all had some very 'Special Times' in Pattaya and your Wedding Day & Night is right up there with the best of them. It is wonderful to hear that your marriage is still going strong and is obviously something that you are very proud of. When you do make it back Champagne will be waiting for you in the bar and I personally look forward to having a glass with you.

Cultural Tip
New feature for this month is the Penthouse Hotel/Kitten Club cultural tip that we hope will help you to understand your hosts (Thai People) & one thing that is often talked about is peoples hearts. You might well have heard of these sayings before 'Chai Yen' & 'Chai Rawn'.
Chai Yen - (Cool Heart)
A 'cool mind' not 'cold heartiness.' One of the worst flaws anyone can reveal in Thailand is to become 'hot hearted,' visibly angry or ill tempered, and, by the Thai definition, out of control. To become angry is 'moho' (Thai for angry). To 'loose your cool' is regarded as a form of temporary insanity, and people will avoid you rather than try to deal with you and whatever problem you may have had in the first place. The virtue of 'keeping cool' being patient' is very common with Thai people but, often found lacking with foreigners. You may have learnt to be assertive and direct but the Thai concept is that if you show your anger, you loose face and are considered out of control. The rule is: The angrier you are the more you smile. Sometime a tough one for foreigners to adapt but, it pays dividends.
Chai Rawn - (Hot Heart)
This is the opposite of 'cool mind' and is not at all respected in Thailand. Whatever the cause , don't become 'hot headed.' Keep your dignity, don't shout and turn red, an apt description of an out-of-control foreigner. From a Thai point of view, there is no justification for allowing this emotion full play. If a Thai shows anger then something has drastically gone wrong and mayhem may not be far away.
Most days examples of Chai Rawn can be found in many of the Pattaya City Banks. If you see a Chai Rawn example in progress just stay back and observe for a few minutes and when it comes to you turn remember Chai Yen.
